Beautiful Future

An extraordinary sundial structure. Three fearless performers.
One joyful invitation through dance and live music to imagine our future differently.

Beautiful Future is Linden Dance Company’s new outdoor dance, live music and installation work, centred around a rotating wooden sundial that transforms public space into a stage for extraordinary physical performance.

Two dancers and one musician-performer climb, orbit, balance and circle across the structure, combining live music with Linden’s athletic Contemporary and Afro-fusion movement language to create a visually striking and exhilarating spectacle.

Inspired by Rob Hopkins’ How to Fall in Love with the Future, Beautiful Future responds to climate anxiety through joy, imagination and possibility rather than fear or blame. The work invites audiences to consider the future not as something fixed, but as something we can actively shape together.

Between performances, the sundial remains alive as a sound and visual installation, sharing children and young people’s hopes, dreams and visions for the future and allowing the work to hold a presence throughout the festival day.

An optional co-creation community cast can be integrated into the static performance on request.
