Christopher Radford is a Birmingham-born dance artist, choreographer, educator and Co-Artistic Director of Linden Dance Company. Working across African, Afro-fusion and Contemporary dance, he has built an extensive national and international career creating and performing work characterised by explosive physicality, musicality and emotional depth across theatres, outdoor festivals and public spaces.
A First-Class Honours graduate of Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Chris has enjoyed an extensive international performance career, working with Scottish Dance Theatre, ACE dance and music, Autin Dance Theatre and Corey Baker Dance, alongside renowned choreographers including Damien Jalet, Anton Lachky, Fleur Darkin and Rosie Kay. His career has taken him across Europe, Asia and North America, with performance credits including the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, broadcast live on BBC One.
In 2020, Chris co-founded Linden Dance Company alongside Sara Macqueen, combining their shared artistic vision with a commitment to creating bold, socially relevant dance that reaches beyond traditional performance spaces. Together, they have developed a distinctive movement language blending Contemporary and Afro-fusion dance, creating critically engaged, visually striking productions including UNBOXED, CAGED and Beautiful Future.
At the heart of Chris’s practice is a passion for nurturing the next generation of dance artists. Through Linden Youth, the company’s community youth strand, he creates opportunities for young people to discover their individuality, develop their technical and creative abilities, and access meaningful pathways into professional dance training and careers.
Alongside his work with Linden, Chris was a Principal Lecturer in Contemporary Dance at Performers College Birmingham and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He also serves on the Board of Directors for Outdoor Arts UK, the Board of Governors at Queensbridge School and has contributed to sector development through advisory and steering group roles with Birmingham Dance Network, Dance Leaders Group and 2Faced Dance Company.
