LIMITLESS

The LIMITLESS project was a pioneering new collaboration between Linden Dance Company and FND Dimensions in 2023 and was funded by Arts Council England, Totem Consulting, Brian Barr Solicitors and Thriving Communities (National Academy for Social Prescribing).
Other partners included Anjali Dance Company, One Dance UK, Sense, 5 Islands Academy (Isles of Scilly), Sing Your Pain Away, Bodylistics, Katy Rose Bennett, BVSC (Birmingham Voluntary Service Council) and Creative Scilly.

The project focused on engaging communities around the UK while shining a light on the immense impact creative arts and expression can have on people who face isolation in their daily lives.

The project reached communities isolated through different circumstances, be that through physical barriers, neuro-divergence, geographical or socio-economic circumstances, with a particular focus on communities living with FND (Functional Neurological Disorder).

The LIMITLESS project delivered:
– Open, accessible workshops in music and dance for people with Functional Neurological Disorder, connecting participants from Scotland to Birmingham
– Co creations in music and dance for community participants

– Creation of a new professional dance film “Be Where Your Feet Are”
– Creation of a new professional dance film “Gentle Strength” with Anjali Dance Company
– Development of a Resource Pack to share learnings and promote inclusivity

The pinnacle of the project was a spectacular sharing event held in August 2023 at the Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham. This event celebrated the power of arts and culture, raising awareness for isolated communities and individuals living with FND. It featured live dance and music performances, captivating dance films, inspiring interviews, and thought-provoking guest speakers. The event brought together eminent figures from the arts, health, and charity sectors, fostering a rich dialogue on the transformative power of the arts.

The LIMITLESS Project successfully demonstrated how the arts can break down barriers, empower communities, and create lasting, positive change. It highlighted the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in the arts, leaving a lasting impact on participants and audiences alike.
