‘Poetic Licence’ is an exploration of personal expression, autonomy and the drive to find your own personal path in life.
Inspired by the words of the late Benjamin Zephaniah, the solo follows Lily’s journey to find comfort in her own choices, joy in her mistakes and confidence in her differences. It considers themes of individuality, self-belief, autonomy and self-advocacy in a world where young people feel confined by societal expectations and pressure to conform.
The solo has been choreographed by Lily, with support from Linden Dance Directors Sara Macqueen and Christopher Radford.
